RED LIGHT THERAPY

When should I start seeing results in my What is Light Therapy?

Light therapy is a process where energy (photons) are absorbed through the skin and taken up by photoreceptors within a cell's mitochondria. The haemoglobin in the cell triggers the release of nitric oxide which is important for signaling molecules that dilate blood vessels and allowing increase circulation and tissue oxygenation. This is vital for tissue regeneration on many levels.

What is so important about light wavelengths?

Visible red light wavelengths from 630 to 700 nm have the ability to penetrate tissues to a depth of approximately 10nm. At this wavelength, the light is able to assist in the treatment of problems close to the surface, like wounds, cuts, scars, trigger and acupuncture points, and is very effective in treating infections.

Infrared light wavelengths of 800 to 1000 nm penetrate to a depth of about 50mm and deeper, making it the most effective for treating deeper muscle structures, tendons, ligaments, joint, bones and organs.

Although both red and infrared wavelengths penetrate to different depths and affect tissues differently, the therapeutic effects are similar.

Superluminous LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are safe concentrated light sources used to produce the specific wavelengths of light that provide therapeutic benefits of light therapy without adverse side effects.
